Scott Hobbs
Scott Hobbs, along with George Herms, Rockie Gardiner and Linden Chiles founded the Cameron Parsons Foundation in 2006. Originally from Idaho, Hobbs arrived in Los Angeles in 1977 to further pursue his career in banking. Within a few months of his arrival, curiosity led him to his first yoga class, soon to be a lifelong pursuit and passion. He started teaching yoga in 1979 and founded the BKS Iyengar Yoga Institute of Los Angeles in 1984. After several trips to India, he left the bank world in 1988. Teaching yoga full time led him meeting many different people.
His encounter meeting Cameron in 1984 was another life changing event. Upon Cameron's passing in 1995, she entrusted him with her estate. In 1995, Cameron was an obscure figure in the LA mid-century counterculture art scene. With the help of George Herms, Nicole Klagsbrun and others, we were slowly able to bring Cameron to the place that she occupies in the art world today. With much of the work completed, he started our current initiative "Almost Forgotten Women Artists" with co-director Maggy Howe.
